Camp CTAP Beginner Strand

Participants will enjoy a little TLC as they begin their journey with a focus on basic technology skills and technology integration into standards-based curriculum. Teachers will be introduced to Microsoft Office®, Inspiration® software, and the Internet to create powerful technology-based activities and templates.

This institute strand is designed for the reluctant or beginning technology user in mind. Participants will enjoy the special attention and the comfortable pace of this training as they begin to explore the possibilities open to them through technology. Easy and fun activities bring the curriculum to life as participants learn the power of Excel, Powerpoint, and Word in creating teacher led and student directed materials.

Outcomes

  1. Understand computer basics, including terminology, icons, and file management.
  2. Complete the EdTechProfile self assessment.
  3. Explore copyright laws and ‘fair use’ as it applies to teachers and classroom applications.
  4. Learn the steps to effective Internet searching.
  5. Understand the components to information literacy and its importance in the classroom.
  6. Explore and develop basic familiarity with the Microsoft Office® Suite of software programs.

Time frame

This training consists of 4 days of professional development for participants. 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM daily.

Audience

Teachers with little or no technology experience.

What’s Included

Continental breakfast, lunch, and all workshop materials.

Cost

$500 per participant or $1600 for a team of four participants.
