EdTechProfile By the Numbers - June 2006
Another school year is coming to a close, and we want to take this opportunity to recognize the 31 school districts that have surpassed 80% completion for EdTechProfile during the 2005-2006 school year. (See list below.)
In all districts it is a major undertaking to have teachers update their Technology Proficiency Assessment. To have 80% of the district teaching staff update their assessment can be a monumental task. Many schools/districts use various methods to be sure that they have current data on technology skills and classroom technology integration:
- some make updating their assessments part of the end of year check out process;
- some have teachers update following summer technology related professional development workshops;
- some designate a specific time of the year or month;
- some following district-lead technology integration institutes;
the list goes on.
No matter how a district plans to have their teachers update, the data provided in EdTechProfile can assist districts in developing plans for technology related staff development. For those districts that have teachers update following staff development, the results can indicate areas that may need to be covered in subsequent staff development, or areas that did not show an impact on teacher learning. In any case, in our data-driven decision making world, the guesswork has been replaced by good, sound data.
Sites can see where they stand with the data from EdTechProfile by clicking on “Reports” at the top of the window of the EdTechProfile. This link takes them to DataQuest, the CDE database of collected data. Once there, one just needs to choose a Level, school or district, in Subject area, choose Technology, click on Submit, then indicate the name of the district. The results of your Level choice are then presented on screen.
Principals can get a concise report of their school’s technology standing and use based on the data that their staff has input to EdTechProfile. To access the School Technology Status Report (STSR), principals should log into their EdTechProfile accounts then click on the STSR Report button in the My Assessments/Surveys section of the home tab window. The STSR pulls together data from the EdTechProfile Technology Assessment Profile, AB75 Administrator Survey, and the Supplemental Survey, into one place that shows where a school site is with regard to technology in an easy to read report.
Again, our thanks to a job well done to those districts that will have attained 80% or better on EdTechProfile completion as of June 30, 2006: (based on data as of 06/12/2006)
