EdTechProfile By the Numbers - November 2006
One million and still counting!
The count from EdTechProfile (ETP) shows that in their latest run, the number of accounts has surpassed the one million mark statewide. Of those accounts, a whopping 61% (612,019) are student accounts, 37% (368,959) are teacher accounts, and 2% (20,013) are administrator accounts.
Region 10 RIMS (Riverside, Inyo, Mono, and San Bernardino Counties) has a total of 38,056 teacher accounts in the system. This number represents 10% of the total number of teacher accounts statewide! 2,010 administrator accounts also represent 10% of the statewide number.
In Region 10, there are 612,019 student accounts in the ETP system, 13% of the total for the state. This shows that there are a lot of schools and districts in the region that have found the ETP Student Survey a useful tool in gathering data on student use of technology in the classroom. It can also provide information on how students perceive technology integration by teachers at their site. The ETP Student Survey data can easily be compared to the technology integration data input by teachers on their ETP Proficiency Analysis Report. If you are not familiar with the contents of the ETP Student Survey, you can view the questions at the EdTechProfile website in the “How do I get help?” section http://www.edtechprofile.org/. The EdTechProfile Student Survey can be administered to any student from 3rd through 12th grade. If you are interested in administering the ETP Student Survey, contact your EdTechProfile Site or District Lead/Admin for details.
New Education Technology K-12 Voucher Report Available
A new report is available to ETP account holders after logging into their account. The K12 Voucher Report gives a “snapshot” view of the school site, based on responses input to the ETP Technology Assessment Profile and the annual California School Technology Survey (CSTS), along with demographic data from DataQuest. The K-12 Voucher Report provides data on teacher technology integration in the classroom, computer numbers, age and location, as well as some other basic information. (Complete data from ETP, CSTS, and DataQuest are available from their respective web sites.) In accessing this report, a request is sent to process the information–the information is gathered from multiple databases. It usually takes a minimum of 15 minutes to get a report back, depending on the size of the school and the traffic on the ETP servers. The results in this report give a concise look at your school site and can be used for reports to the school board, the school site council, the local parent organization, among others. It can be used as a basis for planning technology related staff development. The information can also be used in applying for private grants and other funding. For further details, contact your ETP Site or District Lead/Administrator.
