October Technology Funding Alert!

Once again, RIMS CTAP will be publishing the Technology Funding Alert! The decision to publish the Technology Funding Alert! is based on responses from  prior years' needs assessment surveys. You’ll be receiving five issues this year to keep you informed about opportunities for grants, awards and product donations that will support the use of technology in teaching and learning.

A key step for many districts in applying for funds to support educational technology is the development of a district technology plan. RIMS CTAP works hand-in-hand with districts to support development of these plans, enabling districts to receive technology funding once the plans are approved at the state level. This year, we anticipate a few districts will submit plans in early October, while most will be submitted in the cycle that ends December 5, 2008. All the details and the criteria for the technology plan are available at the RIMS CTAP technology planning page.

RIMS CTAP offers an exciting selection of professional development opportunities that may reinforce grant initiatives, focusing on research-based strategies to support student achievement. The iTELL (integrating Technology for English Language Learners) project is a three-day program designed to prepare teachers to integrate technology as they implement strategies specifically shown to improve teaching and enhance learning for EL students. The Digital Classrooms project continues, targeting the effective use of technology tools to improve student engagement and support the adopted curriculum.
