Project Tomorrow Speak Up Survey - last call to participate!

RIMS CTAP encourages all districts to participate in this opportunity to collect important information that can inform technology planning and grant writing. The Speak Up 2008 Survey may be completed between October 27th and December 19th, 2008. To register to participate in the Speak Up Survey, visit http://www.netdayspeakup.org/speakup2008/.

Findings from the 2007 Project Tomorrow Speak Up Survey indicate that the digital disconnect is alive and well. According to the 1.2 million students, teachers, administrators and parents surveyed over the past four years, there are fundamental differences between students and teachers, between girls and boys, and between older and younger students both in the types of technology being used, and the ways in which technology is used. Speak Up is a national initiative of Project Tomorrow (formerly known as NetDay). The Speak Up data represents the largest collection of authentic, unfiltered stakeholder input on education, technology, 21st century skills, schools of the future and science instruction.

Most grants require applicants to write a description of student and teacher needs as part of the narrative. Schools and districts that register to have their students participate in the Speak Up Survey will get free access to aggregated data and national comparisons that can inform grant writing efforts. Participating schools report using the data collected through the Speak Up Surveys to develop strategic plans, make budgeting decisions, enhance their curriculum, and determine professional development needs. By incorporating Speak Up data into local decision-making, districts ensure that their students’ voices are effectively represented.
