iTELL: integrating Technology for English Language Learners

itell logo

integrating Technology for English Language Learners (iTELL) is a three-day program designed to prepare teachers to implement research-based strategies that integrate technology in their classrooms. These strategies have been shown to improve teaching and enhance learning for EL students.

During this three-day training, participants will create technology-enhanced products that can immediately be used in the classroom. The products will include:

  • a collection of images and online resources to support a unit or lesson;
  • a graphic content dictionary to academic vocabulary acquisition; and
  • a PhotoStoryâ„¢ slideshow narrative.

In order to make the best use of the time, participants should bring their Teacher’s Edition and/or other curriculum materials. Participants should plan to implement at least one strategy or product created during the first two days; a portion of the agenda on Day Three will be dedicated to sharing implementation experiences.

While the strategies and some of the specific products created will work on either Mac or Windows platform, this workshop is currently conducted using Windows software. For a custom Macintosh specific workshop, please contact RIMS CTAP.
