Way of Life
By Andy

The Mojave were hunters, fishers, and farmers.  They planted corn, beans, pumpkins, and melons.  They hunted deer, big horn sheep, rabbits and skunks.  They made pottery from sedimetary clay and crust sandstone.  They also made clubs and bows.  Men hunted and fished while women farmed and made pots and wove.

They traded pots, beaver skunk fur for baskets from the Chumash.  They walked from the Colorado River to the coast.

RELIGIOUS BELIEFS
The Mojave Indians had many religious beliefs. One of the things they believed was a legend about how the world was made. They believed all living things belonged where they were placed. They believed if you had a "real" dream somthing great will happen just like in the dream, and they would also share the dream. The tatoo they wore was important to the tribe. The tatoo was a cosmetic and fashionable decoration.

GAMES
The Mojave Indians played the pole and hoop game. To make a point they aim carefully with the pole and try to throw the pole through the hoop while the hoop is rolling by. They played this to practice their aim for when they hunt.
INTERESTING INFORMATION
The other interesting information is a chief called aha macav pina ta'ahon with leaders from the three regional groups of the Mojave, governed the people, but only with their continued support and approval. The mesquite is a remarkable tree the Mojave Indians used. The mesquite tree grows to between 30 and 40 feet. Another interesting fact is their name actually means people along the river.

The Chumash Indians were the same as the Mojave Indians because they both played the pole and hoop game. The Yurok Indians were the same as the Mojave Indians because in both tribes the woman wore tatoos.

The Mojave Indians were different from the other indians because they were the only farmers. The Mojave Indians were the only ones who believed in if you had a '' real '' dream something good will hapen just like in that dream.
